Right now you’re probably thinking I’m crazy, but hear me out. The Cavs have bounced back in a big way after a slow start to the season. Having now won 16 of their last 17 games and sitting in second place in the east with a 21-8 record, they look to have things figured out.
LeBron is having one of the best years of his career. He’s averaging 28 ppg, 9 assists, and 8 rebounds all while shooting 58% from the field. He will probably get snubbed of the MVP this year, much like every other year, but we are used to it by now. Still pretty impressive for a guy in his 15th year in the league. Aside from having one of the best years of his career he’s finally got a bench that can contribute every night too.
The additions of Dwyane Wade and Jeff Green have been huge this year as they are the leaders of the second unit along with the 3pt specialist Kyle Korver. Wade and Korver are the two front runners for the sixth man of the year award. How there can be two sixth men on one team, I don’t know, I’m not good at math. This depth provided by the bench will be the key reason the Cavs will be the NBA Champs come July. Well, that and the fact that LeBron James is on the team.
In years past the main problem for the Cavs against the Warriors was keeping up with the fast paced team and the depth of the bench and the addition of slashers like DWade and Jeff Green will be enough to propel the Cavs over the Warriors.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot, our All-Star point guard, Isaiah Thomas hasn’t played a minute yet and is eyeing a return this month. Last year, with the Celtics, I.T. averaged 28.9 ppg while leading the C’s to a 53 win season. That my friends, should be enough to take down the Warriors.
So, go ahead and mark it down, bet the house, because the Cleveland Cavaliers will be your NBA Champions this year!
